Additional Information
As a May 2024 graduate, I'm searching for a position in a practice where I can get my feet wet and become fluent in real-world dentistry. Long term goals of mine include practice ownership and development of practice-growing procedures - including implant placement, Invisalign, molar endo, full-mouth rehab, and digital dentistry. A perfect fit for me is a practice with an experienced dentist who loves to teach and fosters development of these skills. Somewhere I can work my tail off to aggressively pay down student debt is preferable.
I'm a native of Elkhorn, NE, where I attended Elkhorn High School and played soccer prior to becoming a cornhusker. Following my time at UNL, I stayed in Lincoln for dental school at UNMC. In my free time, I love to golf, deer hunt, ski, go to country music concerts, and spend time with family and friends. I consider myself talkative and easy to get along with, a skill that is already paying dividends in the dental industry. My girlfriend, Maddie, is an incredible elementary school teacher. She also coaches high school girls basketball, so you can usually catch me in the bleachers watching her team a couple of nights every week this time of year. I grew up a "city kid," but also have a background with plenty of rural exposure. My entire family farms in small towns with the exceptions of my parents, and most of my closest friends are farmers as well. My father taught me how to use a toolbox at a young age, as we remodeled my childhood home together. My aspirations to become a dentist stem from a combination of hand skills with tools (thanks, dad) and a love of science. I already have no doubt I've picked an industry that is well-suited to me and one that I enjoy.
In a professional environment, I pride myself on my ability to build and maintain relationships of trust with patients. Even at the dental school level, I'd say I'm one of few in my class who makes every effort to stay up to date with each patient on my roster. Not just because it's the right thing to do, but also because I genuinely enjoy chatting with my patients and staying in touch. I've had the best luck in treatment acceptance with the patients I've been able to get to know - chatting about families, hobbies, careers, etc. In post-graduation dentistry, this is a skill that will transfer easily to the real world and hopefully make my career not only more successful, but more enjoyable as well.I would consider myself one of the more clinically competent and practice-ready students of my class. Not to say that I'll be immune to the learning curve of time management skills in practice, but I'd like to think I'm in as good of shape as I can be for coming out of school. I'm eager to learn new skills and techniques, and I don't back down from a challenge. As a quick learner and outgoing chatter, I hope to land somewhere these skills can be put to use.
