I was born in Chicago, Illinois moving several times between there and Southern California, before finally settling while entering the eighth grade in Orange County. I came from a family of medical doctors, pharmacists, lawyers and dentist, I decided ,while in the eighth grade, to pursue a career in dentistry. Graduating from Westminster High School in the top 1% with a full academic California State Scholarship I was accepted to the University of Southern California. Unable to get the classes I needed my freshman year, I opted to put the scholarship on hold while attending Golden West College in Huntington Beach, California graduating at the top of the class with an Associates of Arts degree in Chemistry. When I transferred to USC , I became a magnum cum laude graduate with a bachelors of science degree in biology and received a California State Graduate Fellowship. While attending college, I worked at Disneyland initially as a graveyard shift janitor at the Haunted Mansion, and later performing as a magician on Main Street. Upon being accepted at multiple dental schools, I decided to attend Loyola University School of Dentistry in Chicago, being able to live with and take care of my elderly grandmother. I graduated with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery with endodontic honors, I returned to California and worked as an associate dentist with the past president of the Academy of General Dentistry. Having a strong interest in endodontics , I volunteered to teach on the clinic floor in the endodontic department , and later the restorative department. Then I realized that I liked the variety of general dentistry. Intrigued in the interrelationship between orthodontics and tmj therapy, I graduated from the 2 year TMJ Preceptorship Program at UCLA. Following this up with a 1 year TMJ Residency at UCSD. Several years later I received an Acupuncture Certification for Dentistry from UCLA School of Dentistry. When I relocated to Northern California, I earned, through the University of Miami, a fellowship from the International College of Oral Implantology (F.I.C.O.I.) I have volunteered for over ten years as a cub scout den leader/ boy scout committee member, served on the board of directors for both Carrington College of California Hygiene School and Kaplan College, donated services for Give Kids A Smile (GKAS), Give Big Kids A Smile (GBKAS), and treated abused women. I reside with my wife of over 30 years and have two adopted children. After selling my private dental practice of over 20 years, I enjoy being a weekend warrior around the house, bike riding and kayak sailing. I have a deep passion for dentistry. Over the years, I have been instrumental in changing patients’ both oral and personal health , along with significantly positively elevating their self confidence and quality of life. I have found that I really love the dental environment, working with the staff as a team, interactions with patients, utilizing my hands, and intellectually looking at the oral systemic/body connection.
