My ultimate objective regarding my dental career is to become an owner of a dental practice. Following graduation, I would like to find a private practice opportunity as an associate, or as a partner, where I can grow my clinical skills, gain more experience in practice management, and develop patient relationships. My ideal opportunity would allow me to develop a relationship with the owner dentist, from whom I can expand my clinical dental knowledge, and have the eventual opportunity to buy into, or purchase, the dental practice.
As a “non-traditional†dental school graduate, I have had the opportunity to gain important life experiences that a traditional student may not have had the opportunity to experience. Prior to making the decision to return to school to complete my pre-dental requirements and seek a dental degree, I worked in the dental profession for 7 years as a lead assistant in a prosthodontic practice. This gave me the opportunity to develop my patient - practitioner communication and gain valuable dental experience.Personally, I am a single - father of two small children, one of whom was born during my dental school education. I was able to successfully manage my dental school responsibilities along side my family responsibilities.
