Additional Information
My goal in the field of dentistry is to always keep learning and improving my clinical skills to perform long-lasting, predictable dentistry for my patients while maintaining a successful business with an invested team. My main interest is restorative dentistry.
Professional characteristics that make me a good match for a dental practice include being realistic and patient. Although, as students we are taught to plan for ideal treatments no matter what that's not always possible (special needs patient, geriatric, terminal). It's important to evaluate each person as a individual and what may be good for one patient may be a disaster for another. My residence has given me exposure a wide variety of patients and has made me much more confident in diagnosing and treatment planning. Additionally, when working with others you can never have enough patience. There will always be growing pains in a practice if you are striving for more, but the ability to have a steady, meticulous approach while knowing to bend to the needs of the situation is invaluable.
I grew up in a lower-middle class blended family and had to work very hard to navigate the waters of college and dental school. My upbringing has made me into the person I am today and I wouldn't change it. We all have our challenges, but it's about showing up everyday and working your hardest. One of my most important characteristics that contribute to being a good team member of a dental practice is being humble. You cannot be perfect all the time and you will on occasion have to cash in on the goodwill your have developed with your patients and team members. Being a successful team member involves a certain amount of emotional intelligence. I think you can learn something from almost anyone no matter your differences. Lastly, no matter how mundane or complex a task, I have the ability to follow through with a goal.
