Additional Information
Early in dental school I realized what little emphasis the curriculum put on the business side of dentistry. Ever since I have taken it upon myself to try and learn as much as I can on the subject while in dental school knowing one day I will be a practice owner. I am constantly consuming books, podcast, blogs, and anything else I can get my hands on that will better prepare me for real world dentistry. My career goals include running a successful business with a culture where employees enjoy coming to work everyday and provides a positive experience for patients so they never say “I hate going to the dentist†ever again. I also want to have a healthy work life balance so that I can provide more than just financial success to my family.
A dental practice is a team. Every person on the dental team is just as important to the success of the practice as the dentist. I have always been an unselfish team player. Being able to provide excellent dental work is a personal goal of mine, but I know that it is my ability to communicate effectively with patients and the dental team that will bring success to a dental practice. I believe leadership and communication are the most important characteristics for a dentist to have, and I work on improving these skills every day. I am currently the vice president of Temple's Practice Management Club, and I am interested in taking on more leadership roles to learn to be a more effective leader.
I am 27 years old. I grew up in small town Tennessee. Dentistry does not run in my family. I started pursuing dentistry as a career after shadowing numerous different health care proffesionals. I have the confidence level that a dentist needs. That confidence paired with my calm, cool, and collective nature helps keep patients at ease even when things aren't going as planned.
I graduated from The University of Tennessee in 2015 with a degree in Biochemistry and Cellular and Molecular Biology. In 2016 I completed Temples Dentistry Post-Baccalaureate Program which provided hands on training as a dental assistant in the dental school clinic as well as a full year of dental education in the classroom before starting dental school. I will graduate from Temples. School of Dentistry in 2020
Currently CPR, OSHA and HIPPA certified through the dental school.
Became National Entry Level Dental Assistant Certified in 2015 before Dental School.
