Additional Information
My primary career objective in dentistry is to engage in a vibrant, productive private or group practice that provides basic and advanced comprehensive dental care. The ultimate pursuit of this endeavor is to enhance the quality of life of, eliminate orofacial pain from, and instill confidence in the patient population in my community. Furthermore, it is my intent to achieve an esthetic, inviting, and hospitable practice that appeals not only to patients, but also creates an ideal work environment for a committed, cohesive staff founded on solidarity and trust.
On a professional level, I am an extraordinarily motivated individual with an advanced clinical skill set and well-defined leadership capabilities, as testified by my experiences serving as a dentist and leader in the U.S. Army. Having completed a 1-year AEGD residency at Ft. Campbell, KY, I have not only acquired remarkable clinical efficiency, productivity, and confidence, but have also developed the ability to manage complex treatment cases that would routinely be referred to specialists. I enjoy utilizing a palette of advanced treatment procedures and techniques, including impacted third molar extractions, periodontal surgery, management of complex prosthodontic cases, management of complex orofacial trauma (including deep facial lacerations and mandibular fractures), and diagnosis of the whole spectrum of oral pathology. In addition to serving in a chairside clinical capacity, my numerous additional duties at Ft. Campbell have further prepared me to operate efficiently and effectively in a private practice setting. As a safety officer for all five dental clinics on post at Ft. Campbell, I have been involved in developing safety policies, completing safety trend analyses, offering staff safety training to over 250 employees, and preparing clinics for OHSA inspections. As a HAZCOM officer, I have been active in maintaining the Hazard Communications Program, managing clinic amalgam waste, and developing hazardous chemical inventories. Incidentally, I have also served as team leader of the Ft. Campbell Dental Forensics team for the past three years.
On a personal level, I characterize myself as a mild-mannered, easy-going intellectual enthusiast with an insatiable curiosity about anything and everything. I find people endlessly fascinating, and although I am a quintessential Type A perfectionist, I am not one to ever let ambition overshadow my respect and compassion for the human being who sits in my operatory chair. I adopt a strict practice philosophy of never letting mercenary gain displace the need and well-being the individual who has entrusted his or her care to my expertise and integrity. I enjoy developing genuine rapport with my patients and endeavoring to know and relate to them on a personal level utilizing humor, empathetic communication, and a sincere regard for their needs as human beings. I am one who believes absolutely in the value of humility, authenticity, and a good old-fashioned smile. In short, the hallmark of my practice philosophy is a humanitarian approach to societal service. It has been my experience that only through this paradigm does any degree of genuine fulfillment follow, both individually and with regards to staff rapport and office cohesion. It is, in fact, the touchstone of my professional career.Outside of the clinical setting, I enjoy travelling with my wife, running, reading, classical and jazz piano performance, music composition, philosophy, quantum physics, and attempting to enhance my skills as a barista (and have a mini in-home Starbucks operation!).
