My name is Nathaniel Prather, and I grew up in the countryside near Columbia, Missouri. Growing up on a small plot of land, I was the youngest among my seven siblings and was homeschooled until I started undergraduate at Mizzou. In 2021, I graduated from Mizzou with a Bachelor of Science in Medicinal Chemistry and immediately embarked on my dental school adventure at UMKC.

Two influential figures played a pivotal role in shaping my decision to pursue dentistry. Firstly, my oldest brother, Josh, who was already in his fourth year of dental school at UMKC when I began my undergraduate studies at Mizzou. I remember our conversations about dentistry, where Josh passionately explained the merits of this career path. He emphasized the hands-on nature of the work and the profound impact one can have on patients' lives. Secondly, my family dentist, a close friend of my father, left a lasting impression on me. Observing his numerous relationships throughout the town and the respect he garnered showed me the profound connection a dentist can cultivate with their patients, which I find deeply fulfilling.
