My name is Natasha Paranjapye and I graduated from the UW School of Dentistry in June 2022 as part of the RIDE (Regional Initiatives in Dental Education) Program. I am passionate about making patients feel as comfortable as possible and learning as much as I can about dentistry to achieve the best clinical outcomes.
I graduated from UW School of Dentistry in June 2022. I was a part of the RIDE (Regional Initiatives in Dental Education) program, which focuses on improving access to care in rural and underserved areas. As part of this program, I spent one month at Columbia Valley Community Health Dental Clinic in Wenatchee, administering anesthetic and rotating through all clinical functions including working on the clinic floor, at sterile and at front desk. I also spent the last five months of dental school as a full-time student dentist at NEW Health in Colville. I performed a range of procedures including molar endodontics, esthetic crown and bridge, restorative, surgical extraction, and removable prosthodontics under the guidance of four mentor dentists. This rotation acted as a mini-residency and prepared me well to start a job in community health after graduating.Since graduating, I have been working as a General Dentist at CHAS Health at the Denny Murphy clinic in Downtown Spokane. This past year, I have honed my clinical skills and further increased my speed to keep up with a schedule of 25 patients a day that can include up to 15 procedures a day, including endodontics, prosthodontics, restorative and surgery. In addition to clinical skills, this job has allowed me to work with a diverse patient population with complex treatment needs and sometimes with limited options. I have been able to solve problems with patients and work with them to develop treatment plans. The greatest way that I have grown through this job, though, is in my ability to communicate effectively, as CHAS Denny Murphy sees a broad range of patients, from those experiencing homelessness, with severe anxiety and distrust, or who require interpreters and recently came to Spokane as a refugee.
