Additional Information
To start up or transition into and own a dental practice in the Indianapolis area.
I have had the rare opportunity to work both in the public health sector as well as at a private practice. I worked at a public health clinic in an inner-city setting and was exposed to a wide array of dental procedures while working with 4 other dentists. I've more recently worked as an associate at a private practice - including being the solo dentist during a practice transition. I was there to navigate any issues that arose with existing staff and have retained the vast majority of the patients in the practice. Additionally, I have had a chance to learn even more general dental skills and deal with more complex cases. I've also gained an understanding of how to handle a private practice from a back office perspective. I am well versed in extractions, molar endo, Invisalign, crown/bridge, dentures, implants, and general restorative. I also regularly volunteer at a local dental clinic, as I believe helping those in need of our services is a great way to keep skills sharp. More so I understand that you never stop learning in dentistry and am constantly trying to make myself a more efficient, knowledgeable, and better dentist.
I think some of the most important aspects of dentistry exist not necessarily in the dental work itself but in how you treat the people you work on and work with. First of all, I think it's important to be confident in the work you are doing, but it is absolutely necessary to understand that in dentistry you will never stop learning. You need to be willing to recognize areas for improvement and never stop trying to get better. Second, I think a dentist's interaction with patients is what you build a practice upon. People remember first impressions, how you treat them while they're in your chair, and how hard you try to get to know them on a personal level. I believe some of my personal strengths lie in dealing with people, helping them feel comfortable in the dental chair, and letting them know that I am doing everything I can to give them the best possible care.
